The 2027 Toyota bZ Woodland has arrived at Terrace Toyota, and it is unlike any electric vehicle we have offered before. This is a rugged, all-wheel-drive electric SUV built to go beyond the pavement - Toyota's most powerful battery-electric vehicle to date, with 375 system horsepower, up to 452 km of range, and genuine off-road hardware. For drivers in the Skeena Valley who want zero-emissions running without giving up the ability to reach the trailhead, the boat launch, or the back road, this is the EV that finally fits our part of the world.

An Electric SUV Built for the Backroad

Most electric SUVs are designed for the city and the highway. The bZ Woodland is different. Toyota built it on the e-TNGA electric platform and then gave it the ground clearance, all-wheel drive, and terrain hardware you would expect from an adventure vehicle. It rides 215 mm off the ground, tows up to 3,500 lb (1,588 kg), and comes standard with ladder-style roof rails so your bikes, boxes, or rooftop tent have a home. Compared with the standard bZ, the Woodland adds 140 mm of length and 20 mm of height at the rear for more room and a more capable stance.

Power and Range

Under the floor sits a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery feeding a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The result is Toyota's most powerful EV yet.

Range is rated up to 452 km, or about 418 km if you order the available All-Terrain tires - a fair trade for the extra grip on gravel and snow. And because all-wheel drive is standard, you are not paying extra for the traction that our roads demand nine months of the year.

Off-Pavement Hardware

The bZ Woodland is loaded with the kind of terrain tech that used to be reserved for dedicated 4x4s. Standard all-wheel-drive functions include X-MODE and Grip Control, and a Multi-Terrain Select system lets you match the drivetrain to sand, mud, or loose gravel. Downhill Assist Control and Crawl Mode handle the steep and the slow, while a Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitor give you eyes on the obstacles you cannot see over the hood. Intelligent clearance sonar rounds it out for tight trails and tighter parking lots.

Available All-Terrain tires (235/65R18 Dunlop Grandtrek AT30) on the Premium grade turn a capable EV into a genuinely trail-ready one.

Charging and Northern Road Trips

Range anxiety is the first question every northern BC buyer asks about an EV, so here is the good news. The bZ Woodland uses the NACS charging standard as its primary port - which means access to the largest fast-charging network on the continent - and Toyota includes CCS and J1772 adapters in the box so you can plug in almost anywhere. A DC fast charge takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes under ideal conditions, and Plug and Charge handles the billing automatically.

For our winters, the feature that matters most is battery preconditioning: the bZ Woodland warms the battery ahead of a fast charge so cold weather does not slow you down as much. Combine that with standard heated front and rear seats, a heated Softex steering wheel, and standard all-wheel drive, and this is an EV that was clearly engineered for climates like ours - not just for mild city commutes.

What each trim gives you

bZ Woodland (base). Far from basic: 18-inch alloy wheels, Softex upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, acoustic front glass, an auto-dimming mirror with garage-door opener, and a handy 1,500-watt AC inverter in the cargo area for powering tools or camp gear off the battery.

bZ Woodland Premium. Adds a 9-speaker JBL audio system, ventilated front seats, driver's-seat memory, a front-seat radiant heater, a digital rearview mirror, a panoramic moonroof, and the option of All-Terrain tires.

Inside: Room, Comfort and Tech

The bZ Woodland seats five, with a 60/40 split second row and up to 2,120 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded - plus a power back door with a kick sensor for when your hands are full of gear. Every model gets a large 14-inch Toyota touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, a dual wireless charging dock, and 64-colour ambient lighting front and rear. Heated front and rear seats and dual-zone automatic climate control are standard, so the whole family stays comfortable on a cold morning run to Kitimat.

Safety Technology

The 2027 bZ Woodland comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and the Toyota Star Safety System, plus eight airbags. Also standard: Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist, Parking Support Brake with object and pedestrian detection, a driver monitor camera, a backup camera with a washer, and a tire pressure monitoring system. It is a comprehensive safety package for a family adventure vehicle.
