Toyota has just unveiled the 2027 Tundra, and off-road enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that the Japanese automaker is introducing an all-new Trailhunter package for its full-size pickup, significantly enhancing its off-road capabilities.
The Trailhunter package has been specifically engineered to allow the Tundra to transition from pavement to trails straight from the factory, as Toyota states in its press release. Based on the SR5 trim, the Trailhunter package comes with an extensive list of upgrades, including an Old Man Emu suspension, additional underbody protection, a locking rear differential, and rugged Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires.
The upgrades go well beyond the truck\'s hardware. The Tundra also benefits from off-road-specific driver assistance technologies, Crawl Control, and Multi-Terrain Select, which allows drivers to choose the type of terrain they are driving on to optimize the truck\'s performance.
Cutting-Edge Technology
In addition to Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, the Japanese automaker\'s pickup features the latest version of the brand\'s multimedia system. According to Toyota, the user experience is designed to be very similar to that of a smartphone.
The Toyota Tundra now comes standard with an integrated drive recorder that uses the exterior cameras to capture approximately 20-second video clips, a feature that could prove especially useful in the event of an accident, for example.
Arriving Soon at Dealerships
Toyota will release additional details about the 2027 Tundra this fall. Needless to say, we are eager to put the new Trailhunter model\'s enhanced off-road capabilities to the test. It promises to become a very popular addition to the lineup when it arrives on the market.
